Wearing a green color in the Ocean can trigger Ratu Kidul
Description:
In Central Java, particularly along the southern coast near
the Indian Ocean, there is an old belief that wearing green to
the beach is dangerous. Locals believe that green is a sacred
color to Ratu Kidul, Queen of the South Sea, or Nyi Roro
Kidul. Legend has it that Ratu Kidul loves the color green,
and by wearing it on her beach, you might catch her attention.
According to the myth, she might think you are trying to
compete with her or that you are not worthy of wearing her
favorite color, which can lead to accidents such as drowning
or sudden disappearances.
Irrational Reason:
Green is the favorite color of the Ratu Kidul, or the Queen of
the South Coast, so when you wear green it will trigger her
anger and make her pull you into the sea.
Rational Reason:
Green can blend in with the sea and its surroundings, making
it difficult for lifeguards or others to see someone. That is
why ancestors try to avoid someone use green in here to
improve the safety.
